Both spring and damper rates have been reduced. The shock can be identified from the firmer version by the embossed part number 112 310 503″on the damper and a thinner spring wire size: 11.8 mm wire is used on the harder suspension 10.95 mm wire is used on the softer suspension The complete rear shock assembly with softer suspension is available under part numbers: (Black) 33 53 2 310 508 (Yellow) 33 53 2 310 509 ( Important: Converting a 1d er R1 00GS models to the new softer version is not a warranty matter.
