( Service-InformationM otorcycle BMW NA Service Department Group: 16 Fuel Tank And Lines July 1987 16 015 87 (2244) For USA Only Fuel Cap Dust Lip Chafing Fuel Tank Surface – Boxer Models Information: To prevent fuel tank’s painted surface from being rubbed or chafed by the Dust Seal (Fig. 1), an 0-Ring 44 x 4 mm (Part No. 11 42 1 337 098) can be fitted between the sealing surfaces as shown in Fig. 2. The 0-Ring will restrict compression of the fuel cap seal, raising the overall cap height when tightened, thereby preventing the Dust Seal from rubbing against the painted surface.
