Improper clutch adjustment. The coi 1 spring cannot put enough pressure against the boot’s sealing surface to contain the gear box oil when the clutch free-play is improperly adjusted. The greater the free-play, the further the sea 1 i ng surface arcs back from the base of the spring. Adjust the clutch cable as described in the Rider’s Manual or Workshop manual. It is extremely important to maintain the correct length of exposed cable at the gearbox clutch lever ar-m so that the coil spring under the push rod boot is at the proper tension.
