A stiffener has been developed to add counter-support to the fender to minimize this tendency: Stiffener Part No. 95 00 1 000 805 The stiffener is made from a special energy-absorbing elastomer called TecsPak ®• which maintains stability between -80° and 300° F. All RlOOGSm odels must be equipped with this stiffener for low fender mounting position. You will be shipped sufficient stiffeners to install on the RlOOGSs shipped up to this date. All new motorcycle orders will receive the new stiffener with the other material shipped with each order (battery charger, low fender bracket, visor cleaner, etc.). The new fender stiffener must be positioned between the fender and the fender brace. l ) 2) 3) 4) Remove fender from fender brace (if already installed). Place the stiffener on the fender brace, aligning the notches with the posts – long end forward (see illustration). Install the fender as directed by the installation instructions, compressing the stiffener. The fender screws should be tightened firmly (Loctite applied) to ensure that stiffener is tensioned fully. Rear •• & (-.\ ( Please ensure that all 1988 RlOOGSm otorcycles are equipped with the low fender brace and stiffener. Note: Under certain conditions the front fender may make a slight knocking noise while going over pot holes or railroad tracks, especially in warm temperatures. The front of the fender is only flexing and snapping back into its normal position. This slight knock cannot be eliminated with the stiffener.
