Service-Information$ Group: 12 March Bulletin No.: Engine – Electrical 1982 12 006 82 (2061) – For U.S.A. and Canada only – RE: OVERHEATING OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL (BLACK BOX) Dear Dealer: It is possible that the electronic “black box” can malfunction because of overheating, due to a poor heat transfer between the “black box” and the heat sink. This problem is aggravated by a build-up of corrosion between both heat conducting surfaces, isolating one part from the other. To prevent this, a heat transferring anti-corrosive material is applied to these mating surfaces between the 11black box” and the heat sink. ( A similar product is available from any radio supply or similar store by the _brand name – GC – Silicone Compound #ZS Dow Corning – Heat Sink Compound #340 Please apply this material also in case of repair and on motorcycles where it has not yet been used.
