Depending on the intensity of the vibration, this squeal can be annoying. Installa'tion of a dampening rubber around the brake spring at the Brake Shoe Pivot will dampen the vibration and the squeal noise will be minimized. There are two (2') different size.dampening rubbers: 1. K75 with sand cast brake shoes Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 602 - 55mm long 2. K75 with pressure cast brake shoes Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 572 - 70mm long 3. R65, R80 and R80RT Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 572 - 70mm long The dampening rubber is installed at the factory on 1987 mode1 s . The rubber damper is installed only onto the rear brake shoe return spring. The flat side of the rubber rests against the brake shoe and pivot cam, with the s 1 anted side facing the rear whee 1 (facing the left). When installing this rubber damper, also change both brake springs.
