(2230) < โ€ขโ€ข-ยท .'. ,_,,;โ€ข.....,...!;:i.Cl,1,;โ€ขJโ€ข.. ., For.USA.O nl_y_ Squealing noise from rear drum brake when brake is applied. The squeal is caused by the return spring vibrating. Depending on the intensity of the vibration, this squeal can be annoying. Installa'tion of a dampening rubber around the brake spring at the Brake Shoe Pivot will dampen the vibration and the squeal noise will be minimized. There are two (2') different size.dampening rubbers: 1. K75 with sand cast brake shoes Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 602 - 55mm long 2. K75 with pressure cast brake shoes Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 572 - 70mm long 3. R65, R80 and R80RT Use Part No. 34 21 1 457 572 - 70mm long The dampening rubber is installed at the factory on 1987 mode1 s . The rubber damper is installed only onto the rear brake shoe return spring. The flat side of the rubber rests against the brake shoe and pivot cam, with the s 1 anted side facing the rear whee 1 (facing the left). When installing this rubber damper, also change both brake springs.
