In such cases it is possible to reduce the compression ratio by installing cylinder base spacers. Depending on the fuel quality available, up to two spacers per cylinder may be installed. Note from the following chart how much the compression ratio will be reduced after one or two spacers have been installed. The chart will also indicate the correct part numbers of spacers to order for various model year machines, since models before 1975 incorporated spacer #11 11 1 255 001 as standard equipment. As of 1976 model year production, this spacer is not used, and the cylinder foot is lengthened 0.5 mm correspondingly. Before installing the spacers they must be coated on both sides with Hylornar SQ 32/M. This will insure reliable oil sealing.
