Airhead 247 Podcast: Marcus Best

Our guest this week is Marcus Best who completed a RTW trip on his 1981 G/S in two parts โ€“first South America in 2007 then finishing the remainder of the trip in 2008 and 2009. Weโ€™ll discuss why he chose an airhead, his pre-trip prep, on the road repairs (of which there were many) and making the adjustment to daily life after a RTW journey.

Marcus has a number of archived posts about his bike on ADV under the name โ€œroadsacallinโ€ and his old blog siteโ€”remember thoseโ€”that is still up — marcusbestrtw.wordpress.com.

In this series, weโ€™ll be talking with independent mechanics, product developers and aficionados of the classic airhead BMW motorcycles, produced from 1970 to 1995, also known as the โ€œType 247 boxer.โ€ If youโ€™re an airhead rider, youโ€™ll recognize nearly all of our guests in this series. If youโ€™re generally a motorcycle enthusiast, this a great opportunity to add some knowledge to your database and enjoy some great motorcycle talk.
