All motorcycles manufactured on January 1, 1978 and later must comply with emissions standards set by our Federal Government. For BMW’s these standards apply to motorcycles starting with engine numbers as follows: R80/7 Rl00/7 RlOOS RlOORS 6 124 485 6 147 411 6 163 343 6 183 239 2. Purchasers of these “emissions motorcycles” must be supplied with the warranty statement “BMW LIMITED EMISSION CONTROLS YSTEMSW ARRANTY”•. •A supply of. these statements is enclosed and one should be inserted in the Technical Data and Service Manual of each emissions motorcycle that you sell. Additional copies may be obtained as needed from your regional Butler & Smith, Inc. Service Department. 3. Purchasers of these “emissions motorcycles” must also be supplied with the following owners manuals: A. Riders manual incorporating emissions information, part number 01 41 9 798 048. B. Tec~nical Data and Service Manual, part number 01 71 9 798 078, also incorporating emissions information. These two “owners manuals” will normally be found in the tool box of new motorcycles. Should any motorcycles be delivered without manuals, copies may be obtained from your Butler & Smith, Inc. regional Service Department.
