Our guest this week is Anton Largiader who owns and operates Virginia Motorrad Werkstatt (motorcycle workshop) in Charlottesville, Virginia. He specializes in BMW transmission and final drive repair but also functions as a full service workshop for all BMW motorcycles. His technical reference website (largiader.com) is a often referred to database that covers both classic airhead and late model BMW mechanical and electrical systems and is a fantastic reference site that is updated on a regular basis. Weโ€™ve got links to both sites in the”aboutโ€ section of this podcast. Anton is a longtime member and contributor on Adventure Rider and regularly posts in the Airhead form and many others, under his own moniker.

I first met Anton in 2015 when he diagnosed an oil pressure problem on a monolever R 80 G/S, which youโ€™ll hear about in this interview. Since then I have found him to be a trusted resource on all things airhead related. Our conversation was engaging, enlightening and informative—I think youโ€™ll feel the same.

About

In this series, weโ€™ll be talking with independent mechanics, product developers and aficionados of the classic airhead BMW motorcycles, produced from 1970 to 1995, also known as the โ€œType 247 boxer.โ€ If youโ€™re an airhead rider, youโ€™ll recognize nearly all of our guests in this series. If youโ€™re generally a motorcycle enthusiast, this a great opportunity to add some knowledge to your database and enjoy some great motorcycle talk.
